Welcome to Chromepet Cultural Academy

Chromepet Cultural Academy was started in the year 1969, with a view to cater to the cultural needs of the citizens of Chromepet and the environs.
With the blessings of Kanchi Mahaperiyava, a plot was purchased in 1974. His Holiness Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal laid the foundation in 1975 for the construction of Kalai Arangam.
Our Academy was adjusted as the Best Sabha in Madras City belt area and we were awarded a shield and a Certificate of Merit by the Governor of Tamilnadu his Excellency Shri Prabhudas Patwari on 1977.
A stage measuring 40 feet x 40 feet with rooms, toilet, etc was declared open to the public on 1979 by Late Shri A.V. Meyyappa Chettiyar of A.V.M. Studios.
Our Academy celebrated Silver Jubilee in September 1994. A covered auditorium measuring 90 x 50 feet with tublar trusses / asbestos sheets was constructed and this was inaugurated by the industrialist Shri A.C. Vadivelu on 20th April, 1996.
